They are people, and people love to talk to them. To begin with the question of how you are today. Then you can ask what you've done for a career, or how many children you. Only a little compassion and a good listener with a friend. You can hear some interesting stories and learn about life through their volunteer work. Whatever you do her love in your heart and everything will be alright.
I entirely avoid questions like "How are you" or "Do you have children, because sometimes the questions are loaded, if you do not know the people you refer, however, I ask these things then I would is good for general questions or comments about general things that you both have in common with things like "Hey, the weather today was the last time we had a great day so great, you ask? or "You know what's for dinner?" - or better yet, if they have a sense of humor to say something like, "I hope that you do not have the liver again," ... or a compliment to the person who said that Jewelry seems unbelievable, ask to tell other workers or volunteers about seniors and things like "I've heard you really seam, also like me, then I owe you some questions about the substance (I know it sounds stupid, but the lines of to open communication.)
Or my last suggestion .... it says Hello, my name is _______ Volunteer'm new here, what's your name? And would you mind showing around me .. do with the high level of expertise as "empowering, LL is a good friend, and it is likely that from me and show you learn a lot: D

If you call it by its name, has a personal relationship. Praise your clothes. Eye contact and approach (if the hearing is a problem) and the eyes (when eyes do not focus so well). Do not be wrong because it could be. They love to talk about the family.
Check out this site, this site gives you an idea of what seniors go through life.
Hello! My name is ... so what is your name? Praise and smiles. Tea or a drink you want, you wanted to ask to go into the garden (weather permitting), in particular, just be yourself. Please help these people, who could their parents.
Good luck!
I have read a good article if you like, here everything you need is: http://www.choiceeldercare.org/articles/ ...
Hello my name is ______ ______ and I wonder if there is anything I can do for you? Do you need letters or wash your hair or go shopping? Would you read a story? Would you read the Bible together?

How you can be passed to third parties? Just because you are older does not mean they are so different. Ask them how they are. Talk sports, news, nothing.
